Johns Hopkins University Commencement
Role: Creative Director, Video Producer, Video Editor
To celebrate the graduating class of 2021, Johns Hopkins University approached TAIT to produce their Commencement. Which, due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis/pandemic was meant to be fully virtual, but ultimately became a hybrid ceremony featuring both in-person and online festivities.
On this project I was responsible for a team of shooters, editors, and designers that would go on to create 100+ pieces of content from film shoots of speakers, graphics, and interstitial segments. I worked with the client and our project team to develop a creative concept for this ceremony, pitched the creative to key stakeholders and advanced it through pre, production, and post. I helped source a local video production partner (Baltimore based Adventure Productions). We tapped students to submit UGC (user-generated content) to help give the virtual ceremony a more authentic and collaborative feel. Ultimately this yielded 1,000+ pieces of photo and video media that would get incorporated into the final cut.
For post-production, I oversaw a team of three editors (including myself) who worked on stitching together content that would get broadcast both on the web and to a live audience. I coordinated with onsite A/V vendors, alongside our production team to make sure content was being exported to spec for playback. The final product was a 2 hour, 36 minute program video and the culmination of six month’s work (3 months pre-production, 1.5 months production, and 1.5 months post-production).
